Fearing negative publicity, wedding vendors seek to distance themselves from Star and Al
(New York) After hearing the news that Star Jones has filed for divorce from Al Reynolds, wedding vendors who donated thousands of dollars worth of free products and services are demanding financial compensation.
“Those wedding vows said ‘Til death do us part’ and so does our contract with them,” Vera Miles, a spokeswoman for Lazaro Bridal company, which donated bridesmaids’ gowns, tells The Peoples News. “If there’s a breach in the contract, we need to be reimbursed.”
On November 13, 2004, the then co-host of The View and banker Reynolds exchanged vows in a star-studded affair at Saint Bartholomew’s Church in New York City that included 500 hundred guests, three matrons of honors, 12 bridesmaids and four flower girls.
Like most brides, Jones was consumed with planning the extravagant event and discussed at length on The View all the details, including the many the freebies wedding vendors were donating.
Companies such as invitation shop Encore Studios, tuxedo maker Sarno & Son and Lazaro Bridal donated products in hope of gaining publicity for their businesses. Continental Airlines was even onboard as the couple’s “official airline.”
Now that the marriage has taken a nosedive these companies are demanding to be compensated for the monetary value of their donations.
“Rightfully so,” says Becky Waddlesworth, editor of Bridezilla magazine. “What could be worse for a wedding vendor than to be associated with a failed marriage?”
Attorney Barry Schultz says it’s highly unlikely these vendors will see any money.
“These companies got their publicity,” says Schultz. “Star Jones talked about her wedding 24/7. In fact, her obsession with planning her wedding is what got her fired from The View.”

Not one of your best. Just read the paper or watch the news to know that 5 out 6 celeb marriages end before the 1st year is out.
The Peoples News Responds: You’re obviously not a watcher of “The View.” The point of the story wasn’t the divorce. Yes, celebrities get divorced all the time. But very few of them agree to accept freebees from wedding vendors in exchange for promoting them on air. Star went on and on about her wedding on “The View.” She was heavily criticized for this and, as our story and other media outlets have noted, this led to her termination from “The View.”
those companies have the nerve to want money from her. shammmmmmmeeeeee on them they donated their items to her just to be in the lime light, and got their lil fame. people will always remember what they did provide for her wedding but to say it makes hem look bad cause her relation didnt work out so who made them god oh we gonna sue you for some free things we gave her im sure she didnt beg yall lay off the lady. i love star jones fat or skinny married or single….
How tacky. THe wedding would have happened without the freebies, and just what if Star, after recieving these things, did not make a special donation to a charity? Media is messy.
CORRECTION What if she DID make a special donation to charity. Sometimes we don’t hear about what the wealthy gives away…..
